2016年9月7日-9月11日，我國眼科醫(yī)生的年度盛宴——中華醫(yī)學(xué)會第二十一次全國眼科學(xué)術(shù)大會暨第五屆全球華人眼科學(xué)術(shù)大會在有“東方水都”之稱的江南水鄉(xiāng)蘇州順利召開。本次會議是全球華人眼科大會與中華醫(yī)學(xué)會眼科學(xué)年會繼2011年之后又一次攜手舉辦的一次盛會。會議的主題為“匯聚全球力量，共創(chuàng)眼科未來”，大會為我國優(yōu)秀華人眼科醫(yī)師與國際頂尖眼科專家交流和互相學(xué)習(xí)提供了廣闊的平臺，推動我國眼科事業(yè)的發(fā)展。本次大會共邀請了超過600名國際著名眼科專家和國際知名的華人眼科杰出代表分享最前沿的學(xué)術(shù)成果，包括眼科學(xué)各個領(lǐng)域的超過150個專題，并有700場發(fā)言和繼教課程。?

山東省眼科研究所（山東省眼科醫(yī)院）派出由謝立信院士、史偉云教授帶領(lǐng)的20余人參加此次盛會，并取得了豐碩的成果。

9月8日晚，大會的重頭戲—“光明頌”全球華人眼科頒獎盛典在金雞湖國際會議中心舉行。在一場歡歌笑語的視覺盛宴中，年度眼科大獎授予為中國眼科事業(yè)做出卓越貢獻(xiàn)的專家們。?

在中華醫(yī)學(xué)會第二十一次全國眼科學(xué)術(shù)大會暨第五屆全球華人眼科學(xué)術(shù)大會首日，謝立信院士做了全體大會報告《干細(xì)胞在角膜病領(lǐng)域的應(yīng)用前景》，重點介紹了山東省眼科研究所在角膜上皮干細(xì)胞和內(nèi)皮干細(xì)胞領(lǐng)域的研究成果和臨床應(yīng)用，6000余人的會場座無虛席。?

2016年中華眼科雜志編委會上，我國眼科界目前唯一的院士謝立信教授做了我國防盲工作的主題發(fā)言，發(fā)言強調(diào)白內(nèi)障、視網(wǎng)膜病變、角膜病仍然是前三位的致盲性眼病，醫(yī)務(wù)工作者和政府責(zé)無旁貸，任重道遠(yuǎn)。?

Academician Lixin XIE of our institute (hospital) won the “Life Achievement Honor Award from Chinese Ophthalmological Society” and Prof. Weiyun SHI won the “Outstanding Achievement Award of Chinese Ophthalmological Society”

During September 7 to September 11, 2016, the Fifth Global Chinese Ophthalmic Conference and 21st Congress of Chinese Ophthalmological Society, an annual grand gathering of Chinese ophthalmologists, was held successfully in Suzhou, China. This is a grand meeting jointly held by the Global Chinese Ophthalmic Conference and the Congress of Chinese Ophthalmological Society after their cooperation in 2011. The theme was “Gathering Global Forces to Create a Future for Ophthalmology”. The conference provided a great platform for the exchange and mutual learning among outstanding Chinese Ophthalmologists and international leading experts, promoting the development of Chinese ophthalmology. The conference invited more than 600 internationally renowned ophthalmologists and internationally renowned Chinese outstanding representatives in ophthalmology to share cutting-edge academic achievements, including more than 150 topics in different aspects of ophthalmology, and 700 speeches and continuing education courses.”.

Led by Academician Lixin XIE and Prof. Weiyun SHI, more than 20 people of Shandong Eye Institute (Shandong Eye Hospital) attended the meeting and yielded fruitful results.

On the evening of September 8, the “Ode to Sight” Global Chinese Ophthalmic Award Ceremony, which was the highlight of the conference, was held at Jinji Lake International Convention Centre. In a visual feast, the annual ophthalmology awards were granted to experts who have made remarkable contributions to Chinese ophthalmology.

Academician Lixin XIE of Shandong Eye Institute (Shandon Eye Hospital) won the “Life Achievement Honor Award from Chinese Ophthalmological Society”, an award for the ophthalmologists who have made outstanding contributions to Chinese ophthalmology. This is the highest honorary award set by Chinese Ophthalmological Society, aiming to reward the individuals and groups that have made contributions to fundamental research of ophthalmology, basic research for application, prevention and treatment of eye diseases, blindness prevention and treatment and the development of Chinese ophthalmology, and to arouse ophthalmologists’ enthusiasm and creativity in work.

Prof. Weiyun SHI of Shandong Eye Institute (Shandong Eye Hospital) won the “Outstanding Achievement Award of Chinese Ophthalmological Society”, the highest academic award set by Chinese Ophthalmological Society, aiming to reward the professional members of the society, individuals and groups that have made outstanding contributions in the academic aspect of ophthalmology.

On the first day of the Fifth Global Chinese Ophthalmic Conference and 21st Congress of Chinese Ophthalmological Society, Academician XIE delivered a speech named “Application Prospects of Stem Cells in Corneal Diseases” at the plenary session, focusing on the research achievements Shandong Eye Institute has made in the fields of corneal epithelial stem cell and corneal endothelial stem cells and their clinical applications. The 6000-seat hall was filled up during the speech.

At the 2016 meeting of the editorial committee of Chinese Journal of Ophthalmology, Academician XIE gave a keynote speech on blindness prevention work, stressing that cataract, retinopathy, and corneal disease are still the top three causes of blindness. Medical workers and the government shoulder heavy responsibilities and have a long way to go.
